This set was amazing–great picture quality, worked well, etc., but then at about the two year mark the set simply just started turning itself on then off then on and then off etc. endlessly without even touching the remote control. I did a web search and, apparently, this is a VERY common problem with Samsung LCD TV sets. It appears that inferior capacitors are used and that the tops of the capacitors literally fall off over time, causing the sets to be stuck in a start-up/shut-down loop. This is too bad because, while the set worked, it was the best picture I’ve ever had on a TV set. However, when I spend $2K for a TV, I expect it to last longer than two years.

This TV lacks a number of features. The sound is really poor, using built-in speakers. I called Samsung complaining about poor sound, they didn’t like hearing it. Poor AVC…audio volume goes weak then strong and never the same strength when changing channels. One reason for poor sound, Samsung says, is internal speakers face backward, so if you have TV up against wall, sound hits wall. If they know this, why don’t they mount them forward…? Owners instruction manual is absurdly poor. Written on cheap paper, small draft-quality text, poor descriptions, and ridiculously inferior setup information. Shame on Samsung. (This set is made in Mexico…..that explains a lot ! ). If you want good owner manuals, look to Panasonic, Visio, Toshiba, etc…but not Samsung…! The Samsung remote control is cramped & limited…! One good feature is picture quality and color tone when you use the ‘Natural’ setting….which is the closest thing to natural skin tone I’ve seen on any TV…and the sharpness is excellent….sharp, crisp, clear picture….just beautiful when watching the nature programs…!

Sound and picture quality looks great, but the picture is not in full-screen! there are two black strips on the top and bottom sides, and the display area of screen looks like a narrow band!

TV is great. Bought it so I could view my movies stored on my PC. PC Share Manager software is crap! Showed half first movie, then produced CODEC error for remaining files of movie. Same story on second and third movie. If I did not like the TV so well, would return because the advertisement on the software is totally untrue. Let me be perfectly clear, the Samsung PC Share Manager is total crap! Buying an XBox 360 so I can use Window Media Center to show my movies on the TV from my PC. Again, great TV, software and support, total crap!

Do not buy this tv if you plan to use it on the stand. Amazon will only mail out a new tv and not just the missing part. It is a hassle to deal with their delivery service that only works mon-fri during the work day.
The other option is to have Samsung replace the part as part of their warranty. It has been two weeks and I am still waiting for the part. Samsung warranty service has been horrible to deal with. Every time I talk with them, I get a different story on when the part will be shipped out.
